Chocolate Post-Workout Smoothie

healthy chocolate recipes

During the toughest interval of your HIIT class, as you lift a 30-pound medicine ball over your head and slam it on the floor, sweat pooling around your feet, think: chocolate.

During spin class, as the instructor tells you to crank up the resistance so that it feels like you’re pedaling through mud, think: chocolate.

During a long run, when you hit a wall as you approach a steep hill and still have to finish two more miles to stick to your training plan, think: chocolate.

It will help, we promise, and when it’s all over and you sip on this smoothie, the chocolate will be there to help your mind recover, while the protein works on your muscles.

(Don’t forget to use my favorite chocolate plant based protein powder.)

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup chocolate milk
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter
  • 1 scoop vegan chocolate protein powder

DIRECTIONS

  • Place all ingredients in blender.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Pour into glass and enjoy!

WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE

The protein powder-chocolate milk-peanut butter combo serves two purposes. One: It delivers a ton of protein for muscle-building after an intense sweat session. Two: It tastes amazing. Bonus: You’ll get an antioxidant infusion thanks to the blueberries and chocolate.
