Homemade Everything Bagel Seasoning

Trader Joe’s Everything but the Bagel Sesame Seasoning Blend is a cult favorite (to say the least).

And guess what? It’s super easy to make yourself, according to chef Carla Contreras.

Follow her lead, below, and try her chef trick to take it up another culinary notch.

“For that just-baked bagel flavor, place one tablespoon of the spice in a dry, cold sauté pan. Heat on medium for 2 to 3 minutes or until you smell the garlic and onion,” she says. “This is not a cooking project you walk away from. Stay close so you don’t burn it.”

1/4 cup dried onion flakes

1/4 cup dried garlic flakes

1/4 cup poppy seeds

1/4 cup black sesame seeds

1/4 cup white sesame seeds

1 tablespoon Maldon salt or flaky sea salt



Homemade Everything Bagel Seasoning
  1. Place all ingredients in a jar.
  2. Shake!
  3. Store in fridge for up to 3 months.
