During summer, any dessert recipe that doesn’t require turning on the oven is a winner.

And these classic treats get bonus points for also being easy to make, kid-friendly, and healthy.

Basically, you just dip bananas in really good dark chocolate, add crunchy, salty almonds or peanuts, freeze, and enjoy.

If you’ve got freezer space, you can also make a big batch of them and have them ready for unexpected play dates.

Ingredients

popsicle sticks

4 ripe bananas

12 ounces dark chocolate

1 cup chopped nuts (pecans, peanuts, cashews)

 

Directions

  1. Peel bananas and cut in half (horizontally).
  2. Put popsicle stick in one end and freeze wrapped in wax paper for a few hours or overnight.
  3. Melt dark chocolate in microwave or over double boiler.
  4. Dip frozen banana stick in melted chocolate, then roll in chopped nuts and place on tray.
  5. Freeze for at least 30 minutes.
