Tofu can make even the bravest of us, a little squeamish and is often an acquired taste and texture. But it doesn’t mean you can’t discover a delicious way to not only enjoy it and perhaps even add it into your weeknight dinner rotation. Yes, tofu may not be the sexiest ingredient around, but let’s give this plant based protein a chance. At the very least, it’s an excellent and versatile source of protein, vitamins and minerals. 

This tofu recipe may just be the game changer on your tofu perspective, forever. By combining organic firm tofu with a savory peanut sauce and a refreshing side of sugar snap peas and raw cucumbers, this recipe will take your taste buds on a delightful journey.

If you’ve never cooked tofu before, do not fret. It’s easier than you think. The key to delicious tofu? Simple. Press the tofu to remove any excess liquid before cooking, which helps it absorb flavors better. You’ll want to remove excess liquid and then marinate the tofu for at least 30 minutes before cooking. Finally, you sauté, bake, or grill it to your liking. See? Told it was simple.

14 ounces organic firm tofu (always go organic when it comes to soy)

1 tablespoon coconut aminos

6 ounces packaged peanut sauce (or make your own with peanut butter, soy sauce, rice vinegar, etc.)

1 cup sugar snap peas

1 teaspoon sesame seeds



  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Drain the water from the organic firm tofu. To do this, slice the tofu into your desired shape and thickness, and then place the slices on a paper towel. Gently press the tofu with another paper towel to remove excess moisture. Repeat a few times to remove excess water. This step is crucial to achieving a firm and crispy texture.
  3. Transfer the pressed tofu slices into a bowl and pour coconut aminos and peanut sauce.
  4. While your oven is preheating to 350°F (175°C), prepare side dish. Saute washed sugar snap peas and top them off with a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
  5. Once the tofu has absorbed the marinade, place the slices on a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Bake the tofu in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes. Keep an eye on it to ensure it turns golden brown on the outside.
  6. Once your tofu is perfectly baked, it's time to plate up this mouthwatering creation. Arrange the tofu slices alongside the sugar snap peas and some freshly sliced raw cucumbers.
