Ready to upgrade your typical PB and banana smoothie? This smoothie recipe, courtesy of model and actress Catherine McCord, features almond butter and a frozen banana, plus collagen (a protein) and chlorella, a green algae that’s loaded with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and omega-3 fatty acids to help boost your immune system, lower cholesterol, keep blood pressure in check, and much more. This recipe keeps McCord fueled even on her most hectic days. Enjoy.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 banana, peeled and frozen
- 1 dried date, pitted
- 1 tablespoon almond butter
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 1 tablespoon chlorella
- 1 scoop collagen peptides
- 1 cup almond milk or milk of choice
DIRECTIONS

- Blend until smooth
WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE
This smoothie is a great step towards reducing stress and feeling your best all day long, McCord explains. And dietitian and Nutritious Life founder Keri Glassman, who contributed to McCord’s new book, agrees: this smoothie is a solid way to start your day. In spite of its verdant color, it has a luscious, deep chocolate and almond flavor, which completely masks the mild taste of the chlorella. For a deeper chocolate flavor, replace the chocolate protein powder with two teaspoons cacao powder. Either way, this smoothie will fill you up and keep you energized for hours.
