Dr. Terri Ann Parnell DNP, RN, FAAN is principal and founder of TAP Wellness Coaching and Health Literacy Partners. She is a nurse, an award-winning author and frequent speaker on health literacy, cultural competency, and patient education. Dr. Parnell is a Fellow in the New York Academy of Medicine and American Academy of Nursing. She is a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP). Her latest venture, TAP Wellness Coaching, combines her decades of experience in nursing, management, administrative, and leadership roles with her integrative therapist and wellness coaching credentials to deliver holistic wellness programs for healthcare professionals.

Focusing on WHY you want something is usually the Focusing on WHY you want something is usually the only way to create real change. Maybe you’d like to do something, but it’s not actually that important to you… and in that case you might not be ready to do what it takes to achieve that goal. 

Maybe you’d like to lose weight, but being able to enjoy dinners out with your people or the occasional glass of wine is more important to you. And that’s totally okay! You can commit to being healthy exactly where you are — and accept that even though you might like to do something, it’s really not that important to you.

🥬 Start with your base —  romaine (my choice in this pic!), kale, spinach, mesclun, watercress, zen mix or spring mix

🐟 Add your high quality protein: beans, eggs, salmon, tuna, beef, chicken, turkey, tuna, tofu or shrimp (grilled or baked when possible) 

☀️ Summer it up with: 
- Watermelon cubes + feta or goat cheese
- Heirloom tomatoes + mini mozzarella balls
- Fresh mint, basil, dill or oregano steeped in olive oil
- Farmer’s market berries + 1/2 an avocado
- Roasted corn + fresh grilled zucchini
- Grilled peach + ricotta cheese
