easy oatmeal recipes

Spider-Man traps villains in his web. Superman flies and has X-ray vision. Wonder Woman catches bad guys with her magical lasso that forces them to tell the truth. And this supercharged oatmeal can do all of those things. Okay, not really, but it does get nutrition powers from superfoods like chia seeds, cinnamon, and blueberries, all of which may at least give you so much vibrant energy you feel like you can do at least one of those things.

Ingredients

1/2 cup oats
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 teaspoon ground flaxseeds
1 teaspoon chia seeds
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup blueberries

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients except blueberries in a small bowl.
  2. Microwave on high for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring halfway through and again after the oats are cooked through.
  3. Garnish with blueberries.
WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE When it comes to breakfast, oatmeal is hard to beat from a nutrition standpoint. It’s got fiber to keep you full, and as a complex carb, it prompts your brain to produce serotonin, a feel-good chemical that helps you deal with stress. This modern take is even better, since flaxseeds add omega goodness, chia seeds pump up the protein, and cinnamon adds flavor. Grab a spoon.
