eating for a strong immune system

A steaming cup of hot chocolate on a snowy winter day is kind of the best, and let’s be serious, the powdered packets are for amateurs. To get all of the health benefits and flavor of dark chocolate, we use the real stuff, then add warming spices like ginger and cinnamon. Sip it by the fire, with a really soft blanket, preferably aprés ski.

Ingredients

4 cups low fat milk or unsweetened almond milk
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
7 ounces dark chocolate, chopped (about 7 squares)

Directions

  1. Combine milk, ginger and cinnamon in saucepan over medium-low heat until almost boiling.
  2. Add chocolate, stirring until fully melted.
  3. Whisk until frothy and serve immediately.
WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE Dark chocolate is filled with heart-healthy cocoa flavanols. Ginger adds a flavor kick (while also kicking inflammation to the curb), and cinnamon is both warming and stress-reducing. cinnamon is both warming and stress-reducing.
