Sweet Potato and Carrot Face Mask

Carrot face Mask

No, this sweet potato carrot concoction isn’t what’s for breakfast…although it could be. While eating healthy foods is a great strategy for great skin from the inside, using edible, natural ingredients to boost your skin from the outside can help, too. This mask, in particular, is pretty powerful. Sweet potato and carrots contain carotenoids, which the body converts into vitamin A, AKA retinol. Retinol helps your skin get rid of dead cells and create new ones, which in turn increases collagen production, potentially helping reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles over time. Yogurt, meanwhile, contains lactic acid, which acts as a gentle exfoliant by dissolving dead skin cells. The best part: If you get some in your mouth during application, you can just happily swallow.

Ingredients

1/4 sweet potato peeled and baked or microwaved until soft
1 teaspoon grated carrots
1 teaspoon Greek yogurt

Directions

  1. Blend all ingredients in food processor for 20 seconds.
  2. Apply to face and leave on for 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Rinse face with warm water and pat dry with a towel.
WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE The whole food ingredients are great for your skin, and you don’t have to worry about potentially toxic chemical ingredients found in packaged beauty products. Plus, the cool, creamy yogurt feels amazingly refreshing when it’s on. Maybe try meditating to turn the whole thing into a stress-reducing, beauty-boosting ritual?
