Mango Pina Colada

low-sugar cocktails

If you like pina coladas… Oh, come on. You didn’t think we were too good to start with that, did you? So, if you do, you should know they’re among the worst offenders when it comes to cocktails that are basically ALL sugar. That means excess calories, inflammation, and a hangover that just.won’t.quit. Make this version for an alternative that’s all about the fresh fruit, instead.

Ingredients

1/2 cup soft, cubed pineapple chunks
1 cup crushed ice
1 ounce light rum
1/2 cup coconut water, mango flavor
1 wedge pineapple

Directions

  1. In a pint glass, toss pineapple chunks and crushed ice.
  2. Pour in rum and coconut water.
  3. Garnish with a pineapple wedge.
WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE Rum has zero health benefits, sorry (but it can make you happy!). Coconut water, on the other hand, can help counter the effects of drinking alcohol by keeping you hydrated, and pineapple contains anti-inflammatory compounds. Probably not what you’ll be thinking of when you’re sipping this on a pool float, but good to know, right?
