Mini Healthy S’Mores

Healthy S'mores on a white round plate on top of a white table

There’s nothing like a s’more to send you back to your Girl Scout campfire days. Are we right? The abiding popularity of these simple treats is a testament to how oh-so-good they are. For this recipe, we stripped the s’more of its graham cracker encasement and added a sprinkle of wheat germ for a fresh and healthy twist on this old school treat. (For an interesting look at the history of s’mores, check this story out. But we digress.) We also added sea salt to help bring out the sweetness of the chocolate, especially if you decide to go with a darker, more bitter version of the cacao-based goodness. Just remember, when it comes to chocolate, there are ways to make it healthier (hint: by choosing one with a higher cacao content.) RELATED: Dark Chocolate Vs. Milk Chocolate: Which Is Healthier? And while standing around a campfire roasting marshmallows is all part of the s’mores lore, our version cuts out the smoke and flames and goes straight for the gusto. But if you’d like to try our tasty take around your next blaze, who are we to argue? More s’mores, please.
