Celeb Health Coach Kelly LeVeque’s Approach to Wellness is California Cool

By Emma Stessman

Kelly LeVeque exudes California cool.

The Los Angeles-based holistic nutritionist and celebrity health coach’s Instagram is bursting with shades of bright green and blue—from overflowing salad bowls and idyllic beach scenes—that could only be associated with life well-lived in The Golden State.

And her colorful, West Coast-approach to wellness, which is also super down-to-earth and achievable, has made her a go-to health guru for Hollywood’s elite. (Her client list includes stars like Emmy Rossum and Jennifer Garner.)

For example, LeVeque calls her ideal healthy diet “Body Love” (a nod to her 2017 book of the same name), and she says the goal is to eat in a way that allows you to “learn to love your body through nourishing food that makes you feel vibrant and satisfied.”

To see how she applies that philosophy in her own life—and in case you want to try and replicate her Cali-inspired approach to wellness, complete with taco nights and surf sessions—we got the full scoop on how she lives a Nutritious Life, below.

How Does Kelly LeVeque Live a Nutritious Life?

What’s your go-to breakfast? Easy! My #fab4smoothie. It includes the “Fab Four” to incorporate at every meal: protein, fat, fiber, and greens. I build meals and smoothies to regulate hunger hormones, squelch inflammation, and provide my body with the perfect complete meal of essential nutrients.

Your go-to workday lunch?  I am not a huge fan of a cold dinner, but I love a salad lunch. I take advantage of the California heat and normally opt for a refreshing bowl of leafy greens, non-starchy, fiber-packed vegetables, whole food fats (like avocado and nuts), and some form of wild or pasture-raised protein.

Your go-to workday dinner? A sheet pan dinner! I rarely use recipes. Instead, I just set the oven to 350 degrees, load the tray with veggies and a piece of fish and drizzle it with avocado oil.

What’s the one food you always have in your fridge? Thats so hard to choose! Vital Farms eggs, almond butter, coconut or almond milk.

Your favorite food indulgence? Can it be a whole meal? Spicy margarita, chips, guac and taco spread … I just have no OFF button for that type of amazingness.

Other than water, what do you sip regularly? Coffee in the a.m., herbal tea in the afternoon and #fab4smoothies all the time.

How often do you exercise, and what’s your workout of choice? Yoga, spin and HIIT.

How do you stay active outside the gym? My husband and I go on “mom and dad walks” around Brentwood. The only other people we see cruising the neighborhood either have a crew of kids or are retired but we LOVE them. If it’s the winter, we ski and snowboard a few weeks of the year in Mammoth. And if it’s summer (and I’m not pregnant), we surf.

What’s your go-to tool for managing stress? Baths …I am such a water baby! I am known to meditate, plan a work calendar, catch up with a friend on the phone, read a book and even write chapters of my book from the comfort of my very own bathtub.

Do you have a favorite health gadget? A glucometer. I have tested my blood sugar for over five years, on and off. I use it when I want more information about the cravings, crashes, or fluctuations. It has been paramount in keeping me healthy throughout my entire pregnancy too.

How do you express and spread love? I give my family, friends, and clients my undivided attention and time. I love being there to listen and support them on their journey and nothing is more rewarding.

What does it mean to you to “live consciously”? I think its the process of continually checking in with yourself to ensure that who you are, what you are doing, and how you are helping/contributing to others aligns with your “true self.” I always like to ask myself if 5th grade me would be proud of me.

Lightning Round
